The Pre-Order Game
posted on 2006-10-22 18:24:29

You know the deal: Reserve, Wait, Get.

This process has been used for a lot of items, but most of all, Video Games.

At first it was all about "who had what first" to get the upper edge.
Now in a world of many Video Games there are special bonuses to make the consumer want to make a pre-order.

Recently Battlefield: 2142 came out. If you pre-ordered it a EB Games or GameStop, you got a free Rank-Up, USB Flash drive, and a DOG Tag. All that for putting $5 down on the game a few days in advance.

This process of Pre-order bonuses are used for hype in a lot of cases.

The so-called "Next Halo", Gears of War, which comes out November 8th, is being hyped with all of Microsoft's money.
I fell prey to this hype at a local Best Buy. They had a few "Display Only" Gears of War boxes around the 360 kiosk, with cool black T-Shirts attached. I reserved the game, and got a great T-Shirt.

If a buyer is sure they want the game, then the Bonuses that come with pre-orders, are just that. Bonuses. You pay the same price, and you have the guarantee you will get the game as well as get some free stuff.

Game Publishers are smart. They know if a consumer sees that they can "semi-buy" a game they want as well as get free stuff for a small amount of money, they will do it. Most pre-orders are made for the sole purpose of the Bonus.

The process is simple and great. The gamer who pre-orders gets free swag, and soon the game. At the same time the Publisher gets the money for the soon to be bought game!

Its been here for years and it will continue to be here, its the Pre-Order Process.

Battlefield 2142 Review
posted on 2006-10-14 21:00:49

One of this years most highly anticipated war games for the PC, Battlefield: 2142, is coming out October 17th, 2006.

Right now the demo is available from File Planet as well as the EA website.

I personally love this game because of its new vehicles such as the Mech robot.

Battlefield: 2142 feels more like a mod of Battlefield 2 than a new installment in the series. The controls for the weapons feel great and the speed of the game is natural. But the controls for the vehicles are as bad as before.

In Battlefield: 2142 there are two play modes: Single Player and Online.

The Single Player mode is just as weak as in previous Battlefield games. Its just a bunch of bots running and gunning!

But the Online mode is fantastic. The server selection has been redone to allow greater options and faster searching.
Also their are ranks which now give you gear the higher you rank up!

All in all this game is worth getting and is a lot of fun!

Saints Row or San Row?
posted on 2006-09-10 16:49:11

Saints Row, now out for the Xbox 360, is a fun game. Above the cries of "GTA WANNA BE!" are the cries of rejoice from people who have actually played Saints Row.

Saints Row copies the GTA series a lot. Which happens to be good, because they got everything right about the game!

There is always something to do. From Missions, such as: Car Derby, Mayhem, Insurance Fraud, Hitman, and more, to Buying clothes or other things.

Like GTA San Andreas, Saints Row is full of gangs. You play as a new member of the "3rd Row Saints".

The game is focused largely around respect. Respect can be gained by completing missions and side missions, buying clothing or jewelry, and more.

Unlike GTASA, you dont have to take care of your player's hunger. There is food in the game, but it is only consumed to regain health.

All in all, Saints Row is a fun game and worth buying. There are over 150 cars and they all handle differently.

Even if you are a Hard Core GTA fanboy, play this game until Next year when GTA IV comes out!
